Pets today are living longer and better quality lives than ever before thanks to improved nutrition, veterinary care and educated owners. Understanding the aging process and the most common problems that face the geriatric dog or cat are the first steps in providing the best possible care to geriatric patients. Lafayette Road Veterinary Hospital wants to help your pets live longer with the highest quality of life.

Well pet exams and routine check-ups with your veterinarian are key to long-term health. Specific tests and exams that may be recommended on a regular basis (depending on your pet’s underlying health concerns) may include biochemical blood profiles to check for diabetes and other diseases, weight management if your pet is considered obese, or tests such as blood pressure, thyroid function, urinalysis and echocardiography.

Please call 317-926-2467 or e-mail if you have any questions about the health of your older dog or cat.
